Have you ever wondered why you have a business working from home and never seem to be “at home” doing business?
Either you’re going to seminars or you’re heading out to make a presentation or having a coffee with your upline or even putting yourself in a place where you can be out socializing in hopes of catching someone who might be interested in your business. Techniques Of The Past.
Let’s Jump Into the Present
I’ll show you how to use your computer to drive people who want your success right to your home office. I’ll teach you techniques that compound your efforts and are duplicatable so the efforts of your downline compound with yours as well.
The Tale of Two Network Marketers
Meet Tom and John. Both are in the first month of their Network Marketing Business selling the same energy product. They both have full time jobs and they are both working with a $500 budget, which means they are looking to generate leads rather than buying them.
Tom is going to do everything his upline has taught to him. Take massive action and get his product out there with word of mouth.
Tom’s Workload- Build a list of friends and family
- Talk to anyone who comes within 3 feet
- Print flyers and distribute wherever you think have market potential (college campus, neighborhoods, grocery stores)
- Give away free samples
- Wear an “Ask Me How” button
- Pass out business cards
- Go to meetings
- Listen to conference calls
- Meet weekly with upline and downline
- Invite anyone who expresses a tiny bit of curiosity to sit down and listen to a presentation
John has decided to use a different approach. He is going to market his MLM online by focusing on people that are looking to boost their energy.
John’s Workload- Set up a free blog recommending the product for a quick energy boost
- Start profiles on energy and health websites and link back to blog
- Write an informative article detailing a useful plan for gaining more energy and endorse product
- Use an inexpensive service to capture contact information from those who would like to learn more
- Use the service to send them the above mentioned article
- Use the service to send out notices to these contacts notifying them of new blog updates
- Let the content do the talking
- Convert subscribing readers into customers by pointing them to sales website
Both plans work. But which one is more successful?
For arguments sake we’ll say that after 6 months, both Tom and John are earning the same profits from their businesses. So now how do you measure success?
Let’s look at “profit potential” and “lifestyle output”. They are each creating a different business as well as a different lifestyle.
Profit Potential- Tom says: I met with 600 people in 6 months and personally signed up 60 members in my downline. (Ambitious I know, but he wants to be a successful business owner)
- John says: I didn’t talk to anyone that didn’t ask me about my business first. I personally signed up 20 members in my downline.
- Tom says: I’ve gotten good at this sales thing and I can talk anyone into joining this business. Qualified or not.
- John says: I keep adding new information and new links to my blog. My efforts are compounding, while my traffic and my subscribers are growing exponentially. I’m getting calls a few times a week from people who want to work with me.
- Tom says: Well, I signed up 60 people but only half stuck around. The 30 left are still in it and have sponsored 10 people total. If I could only find people that were as motivated as I am.
- John says: My work has brought me 20 people that were ready to be business owners. They are all producing because I’ve got a system that is easy for them to replicate.
- Tom says: My profits are getting better. They would be growing much faster if my downline would stop dropping out on me. I’ll just have to work even harder.
- John says: My profits are increasing and I see a direct correlation to the growth of my downline and the traffic going to the sight. My workload is becoming less, but my income is rising…quickly.
Lifestyle Output- Tom says: I’ve got some new duds. You’ve got to look sharp if you’re going to be sharp.
- John says: Everyone says how cool it would be to work from home in your pajamas. I do that.
- Tom says: This is definitely an emotional roller coaster. I’ve gotten better at dealing with deadbeat prospects, but it still bums me out every time they quit or don’t show up or don’t follow through or blame me because they aren’t making any money.
- John says: I knew from the beginning that through hard work and persistence that my efforts would pay off. It was slow at first, but now my business is climbing higher and higher. I just keep cruising.
- Tom says: I’m going at all hours of the day. Basically, whenever I can fit into someone’s schedule. Whether it works for me or not.
- John says: I work when I want. A few hours in the morning or night. My computer is always available. Even if I’m up at 5am.
- Tom says: Every time I talk to someone new, I start right back at square one. It’s like I have to prove myself to everyone that I talk to.
- John says: The more I learn, the more I create new posts and links. My contacts, both new and old, see my progress and my growing expertise.
- Tom says: Hey John, can you show me what you’re doing.
- John says: Of course, Check Out This link
Tom Used a Network Marketing Approach to MarketingHe is a strong player. Tom’s is steeped in tradition. By using “word of mouth” recruiting, he is playing a game of pluses and minuses. Hopefully he and his downline can continue adding people to their group to fend off the subtractions. Unfortunately, with all the coming and going, he is aware that his work isn’t as productive as he had hoped. His ethics have put him in a situation that people see him as an expert. Which is great. But now they want to ride the wave that he has created. They think that Tom will do all the work for him. They don’t produce and the downline comes to a halt.
Tom is tired. He is working at a break neck pace and is beginning to wonder how long he can keep up what he is doing. The realization that he is working harder than most has become mentally exhausting and he is now questioning whether this is the right business for him after all.
John Used a Business Approach to MarketingHe is a strong player also. John knows that he wants a few key ideas to prevail in his business approach. He is more concerned about selling a business system, rather than retailing a product. He wants his efforts to continue to work for him. He wants to attract people who are predisposed to MLM’s. And he wants to grow a business that is easy for his downline to reproduce.
John, in the comfort of his home (and sometimes pajamas), has no problem keeping up his pace. He has become accomplished at writing articles and creating links. Concepts that were foreign at first and took him hours to create have now become fast and simple, as well as the driving force behind his business.
Remember, Spend Your Time With People Who Want To Be In Your Business, Not People Shopping
John has positioned himself as a leader and has offered a solid business formula. So now, John has attracted people who are business minded and ready to take serious action in their new business. This Is The Stance You Need To Take. The people that realize this truth will be the people that begin to hunt you. They will contact you and ask to join your business program. And don’t forget, what you have created can be created by anyone. They can duplicate your business formula. This is what creates a successful home based business. They don’t have to be “Tom the Go-Getter”.
Follow this link to learn more about this Business Formula. It is one of the most valuable pieces of training material I have found. It will give you a new foundation on which to build your business.
By the way, remember when I said in my last post that I was determined to find a way to use my computer to my business’ advantage? This is what I found and my life and my business have not been the same since. The time for a change in this industry is now.
Get Serious.
